Ministry: Russia’s wheat exports rise 2.9% by March 15
MOSCOW, Mar 20 (PRIME) -- Russia increased wheat exports 2.9% to 20.209 million tonnes in the 2016-2017 agricultural year lasting from July 1 through March 15, while barley exports slumped by 40.9% to 2.202 million tonnes, the Agricultural Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Corn exports grew by 16.5% to 3.6 million tonnes, the statement read.
Prices for grains continued to decline from March 13 through 17. An average price for straight white wheat flour fell by 0.4% on the week to 16,045 rubles per tonne, a rye flour price remained flat at 12,070 rubles per tonne.
An average consumer price for wheat bread increased by 0.1% on the week in 44.53 rubles per kilogram and a price for wheat-and-rye bread also rose by 0.1% on the week to 44.83 rubles per kilogram as of March 13, the Federal State Statistics Service said.
